Image Caenorhabditis elegans competence center
Host: Department of Biosciences and Nutrition (Karolinska Institutet)
Type: Specific technique
Caenorhabditis elegans is an excellent model organism for studying the genetics of development and neurobiology. Its genome is entirely sequenced and the fate of every cell is known throughout development. Also, the complete nervous system connectivity has been determined. Read more
Centre for Genetic Physiology
Host: Department of Physiology and Pharmacology (Karolinska Institutet)
Type: Core facility
The core facility/platform provides resources and service for physiological characterization of normal and genetically modified mice. A focus is on cardiovascular studies of living conscious animals and on in vitro examination of isolated cardiac and vascular tissue. Read more
Gamma radiation exposure facilities, Stockholm University Centre for Radiation Protection Research
Host: Department of Genetics, Microbiology and Toxicology (Faculty of Science)
Type: Specific technique
Gamma (137 Cs) exposure facilities for high or low dose rate exposures are available for the radiation of e.g cells, cell cultures, DNA and proteins. Read more
Image Karolinska Center for Transgene Technologies (KCTT)
Host: Department of Cell and Molecular Biology (Karolinska Institutet)
Type: Core facility
The aim of Karolinska Center for Transgene Technologies (KCTT) is to produce transgenic mice by pronuclear injection and ES cell techniques. KCTT is one of the largest transgenic core facilities in Scandinavia. Read more
Karolinska Institute Zebrafish Core Facility (Campus)
Host: Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics (Karolinska Institutet)
Type: Core facility
Our state-of-the-art facility, which is the largest in Sweden, houses fish in a continuously monitored environment and all staff are qualified animal technicians. There are already zebrafish models for a number of human diseases, for example cardiomyopathy, diabetes, muscular dystrophy and Parkinson’s disease. Read more
Image KERIC - Karolinska Experimental Research and Imaging Centre
Host: Karolinska University Hospital
Type: Core facility
KERIC offering different imaging analyses in experimental systems in combination with experimental surgery in large animals like swine as well as in rodents. The unit belongs to the department of comparative medicine (AKM) and is situated at Karolinska University Hospital, Solna. We provide tools for angiography, MRI, microPET and a combined nano PET-MRI /CT, and offer our resources to both academic research, training courses and for external clients to develop and test new equipment. Image Stockholm University Drosophila Development Site and Facility
Host: Department of Developmental Biology (Wenner-Gren Institute)
Type: Core facility
We can assist studies of gene function in high throughput gene inactivation experiments in cell lines and through the generation transgenic Drosophila melanogaster strains. Read more
Image The Uppsala University Drug Optimization and Pharmaceutical Profiling Platform (UDOPP)
Host: Department of Pharmacy (Uppsala University)
Type: Core facility
The Uppsala University Drug Optimization and Pharmaceutical Profiling Platform (UDOPP) provides a battery of in vitro and in silico assays for prediction of ADME properties, making it possible to optimize the pre-clinical properties of compound series and give the chosen candidate drug the best possible chance of success. Visit our website for more information. Read more
Xenopus oocyte injection
Host: Department of Cell and Molecular Biology (Karolinska Institutet)
Type: Specific technique
Xenopus laevis oocyte injections may be useful to study various biochemical processes. Scientists requiring this technique may contact me to get help with planning and performing microinjection experiments in Xenopus oocytes. Please note that we provide no service support. Read more
